My name is Prof. William Ferraro, and I am a USJA-certified Black Belt (Shodan) under Master Gary Rasanen of Long Island Judo & Self-Defense. Master Gary earned his rank under Hoteikan Dojo’s Grandmaster Emilio “Reno” Claudio, former coach of West Point Academy’s Judo team, who I have also studied extensively under.
In addition to Judo, I train regularly in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro, who awarded me my blue belt in BJJ in December 2015.
My competition record includes gold medals in several Hoteikan-sponsored Judo tournaments including two Absolute Weight divisions, held under freestyle rules, and I regularly compete in BJJ Master’s Division tournaments such as Big Apple BJJ Open, IBJJF New York Summer Open, and Good Fight Submission Only, both gi and no-gi.
More importantly, I have a wealth of experience teaching Judo to adults both male and female, as well as children. I pride myself on being able to convey the principles and techniques of this great art to anyone, and get them performing immediately, whether they are a first time learner or an advanced competitor. The proof is in the teaching, and if you enroll in my class, you will experience the difference in my method of training.
