Kouchi Gari (small inner reap) is another nice ashi waza option, especially against an opponent who is allowing you to manipulate their head from the clinch.
There are a few different ways of executing kouchi gari, but in the demo above, I am pushing the weight of my opponent’s skull onto the foot I am attacking. When his head is exaggerated towards his foot, I step in and hook-sweep the back of his foot. You can also finish this with an inner leg reap, as the name of the throw suggests, but you risk being put into half-guard immediately after the throw is completed. I find that the small hook allows me to transition more quickly to my next move.
